Monaco – PSG betting tip, prediction & odds 18/12/2024

Ligue 1, Wednesday, 18/12/2024 at 9:00 p.m.

The hunter welcomes the hunted – but am I even allowed to use this term when there is a seven-point gap between the teams? In the case of AS Monaco and Paris St. Germain, it is quite difficult for me.

The Monegasques need an upset to get closer to the top and know: home games against the serial champions? We can actually win those! In my Monaco PSG betting tip, I will now tell you everything you need to know about this game and underline why I think defensively, setting the limit at 3.5 goals.

AS Monaco would love to take the role of PSG’s pursuer seriously, putting pressure on the stars week after week. At the beginning of this season, with six wins and a draw, that worked out just fine.

However, it now seems that AS Monaco is a candidate for a Champions League spot, but the title is probably still relatively out of reach. Of course, seven points are catchable – but the current form is simply not good!

Last weekend, they played out a dull 0-0 draw with Reims, and only three of their last eight games have ended in a win. It is therefore cold comfort that they have kept two consecutive clean sheets for the first time since the start of the season.

With twelve goals conceded, the Monegasques are, together with PSG, at the top of the defensive table. In contrast, they regularly fall short of their own expectations in the offensive area.

1:0, 1:1, 3:1, 2:1, 0:0, 0:1, 3:2 and 2:0 – only three home games exceeded the 2.5 goal mark. Monaco no longer has a super striker up front, so the responsibility for scoring now falls on the entire team.

The fact that Deniz Zakaria, who many of you probably know from the Bundesliga, is an important engine in midfield, is of course not particularly good news before the duel with PSG.

Speaking of PSG, it’s quite funny what happened between these two teams last season. 0-0 at home, 2-5 at the Parc des Princes – the two games could not have ended more differently!

At the same time, however, the Monegasques have only lost one of their last five duels, and they are now particularly strong in their own stadium. 0:0, 3:1, 3:0 and 3:2, what a streak!

There have been a few shooting festivals, but at the same time, I also recognize that six of the last eight games have had a maximum of three goals – because both sides can defend.

If our tax-free bookmakers are to be believed, we could be in for a very interesting encounter on Wednesday. The Parisians are favored, but with odds of 1.90 to 3.70, the home side also have their chances.

As attentive readers, you have of course known for years that PSG are always favorites due to the individual quality in the Ligue 1. After a short “break”, the stars are now back on track.

This break consisted of two draws (1:1 against Nantes and 0:0 against Auxerre), there have been no defeats in the league yet. The 3-1 defeat to Lyon nipped the first doubts in the bud.

A quick goal from Ousmane Dembele and a penalty, converted by Vitinha, quickly put PSG on the road to victory. But in the end it was once again really close, because only a few minutes before the end did Goncalo Ramos put the lid on it with the 3-1.

Of course, I can’t fault a team that scores 40 goals in 15 rounds in offense. Well, at least it can be seen that PSG has already shared points three times away from home – and only two goals were scored in these three games!

Paris is traveling to Monaco – and this trip has not often been successful in recent years! PSG know that away games in the principality can end badly and have not produced a win for a long time.

Admittedly, Monaco are not currently in top form, but home games against the best club in the country are always a very special motivation. What I quickly realized was that both are on the same wavelength defensively, hardly conceding any goals.

That’s why I decided not to go for a spectacle here. The last game at the Stade Louis II didn’t produce a single goal, so for this game I’m going for the following bet:

The 3.5 goals will not be broken!
