Conference League League Phase, Matchday 6, Thursday, 19.12.2024 at 21:00
The final decisions are made! In our UEFA Conference League tips on Thursday, we will find out which eight teams will progress directly to the knockout round. In Austria’s capital, it’s a nail-biter, because one of the tickets could go to Vienna!
The Allianz Stadium will host an experienced representative from Denmark on Thursday, who will also be looking to leapfrog their opponents. An incredibly exciting duel, and that’s exactly why I’ll tell you in my SK Rapid FC Copenhagen tip why I’m betting on the relatively risky draw here.
Chelsea are through, Vitoria Guimaraes probably too – behind them are nine clubs who all have between ten and twelve points in their accounts! There is pure suspense in the Conference League, nobody knows yet who will qualify directly for the knockout round.
Rapid Vienna are also keeping a keen eye on the table, as the Austrians are one of five teams currently on ten points. This group stage actually started really strongly, had it not been for the turnaround
2:1 against Basaksehir, 1:0 against Noah and 3:0 against Petrocub, the first nine points were quickly collected. The first setback came in the 1:1 draw against Shamrock Rovers, and it was not to be the only one.
The Rapid team lost 3-1 at Omonia Nicosia, with all the goals coming after the break. After three leads at the break, it was the second game that was still a draw after the first 45 minutes.

It’s clear: The “Double Chance 1X” has always been correct up to this point. Will this bet still achieve sufficiently high odds at Oddset on Thursday? A 1.30 is due, which is of course not exactly bombastic.
A half-time lead is more likely to pay off, with odds of 3.00. 1:0 against FC Noah, 1:1 against Shamrock, the first two home games in international competition, they weren’t exactly bursting with goals.
What does it matter that Rapid have been without a win in the Bundesliga for three games? It’s the longest drought of the current season, most recently a 2-2 draw against Red Bull Salzburg.
The team will face FC Copenhagen for the first time ever on Thursday. They have played six matches against other teams from Denmark so far, and with five wins and one draw, their record is more than respectable
And lo and behold, even our bookmakers can imagine that the Rapid team will have the edge on Thursday. Although I also have to say: Odds of 2.55 to 2.70? That probably points to a damn close match!

So FC Copenhagen know: we have identically high odds of winning. Is there still a chance for the Danes to reach the knockout round directly? There is, but it’s only theoretical.
With eight points, they will definitely not be eliminated, but the top 8 is almost impossible. The Scandinavians, who we know well from the top flight, have brought this on themselves
The competition got off to the worst possible start with a 1:2 draw against Jagiellonica, but the 1:1 draw against Betis Sevilla and 2:2 against Basaksehir at least brought them their first points.
The victories came, albeit rather late. 2:1 against Dinamo Minsk and 2:0 against Hearts were not exactly gala performances. For four games, definitely interesting, the team has gone into a break without a lead.
The 2-0 win against Hearts was also the first time ever that they managed to get away without conceding a goal. It’s fitting that there have only been four clean sheets in the league in 17 rounds.
The starting position is clear: Copenhagen no longer have a chance of qualifying directly for the knockout round, but Rapid Vienna have a much better chance! A win is a must, but at the same time the competition must not be allowed to overtake them.
Unfortunately, the Viennese have lost their positive approach and conceded three goals in Nicosia. At least I can’t say that the form of the visitors from Copenhagen was any better.
The Danes have struggled to narrow victories and all their results have been very close. That’s also the reason why I’m putting all my eggs in one basket here and saying:
Rapid and Copenhagen share the points!
