Parma Calcio has not been in good shape recently – with only one win from the first five Serie A games, the northern Italians anchored themselves directly in the basement of the tableau. The result: the separation from coach Carlos Cuesta and the now completed and recently awaited installation of Alberto Gilardino. The former professional and 2006 World Cup winner is expected to lead Parma into safe territory and will initially receive a contract valid until 2027 with the option of another season. Gilardino coached Pisa until the beginning of the year and had previously gained experience on the sidelines of CFC Genoa, Siena and Pro Vercell.
