Under Niko Kovac, Ridle Baku oscillated between the substitutes’ bench and the starting eleven; under Ralph Hasenhüttl, the 26-year-old is back in the starting line-up. The four-time international’s contract expires in 2025 and VfL are not willing to let their players’ contracts expire. Hasenhüttl is said to want Baku to stay and, as things stand, it is not unlikely that he will remain in Wolfsburg for at least another year
