Bundesliga matchday 12, Saturday, 30.11.2024 at 15:30
A Dieter Hecking alone will not be enough! VfL Bochum will have their work cut out for them in our Bundesliga 1 tips to get out of their dire crisis. The winless bottom team head south on Saturday and are the protagonists of my Augsburg Bochum betting tip.
The Bavarian Swabians are not exactly the epitome of a top club, but at least they have been known for being strong at home, and not just since yesterday. My advice for this match: Bet on “Both teams score”, even if the visitors are not exactly strong offensively!
At some point, Bochum HAVE to wake up up front, the fact that they haven’t conceded a goal in ages will of course also be part of my analysis. For all FCA’s home strength, I have to say that they are not really solid here either.
Nevertheless, the Augsburg Bochum odds don’t surprise me. Our bookmakers, where you can currently also take advantage of really strong Black Friday offers, see the home side ahead with an average of 1.70 to 4.60.
There are certainly good reasons to believe that the Fuggerstädter will leave the pitch as winners. You can find out what these are and what speaks in favor of my “Both teams score” bet in my exclusive Augsburg Bochum analysis!
The oddsmakers’ forecast?
VfL Bochum are completely winless and have a measly two points to their name. I’m therefore not at all surprised that the visitors are the underdogs on Saturday and are being offered odds of 4.60.
Augsburg like to play at home, have only lost once and have already won three times. So a win against Bochum seems realistic, of course, and the odds show an average of 1.70.
A draw would not really help anyone. But: The head-to-head duels have always been really close, and in 2023/24 there was no winner at all. So I wouldn’t rule out the draw under any circumstances, especially since the odds are very profitable at 4.00.
KI prediction Augsburg vs Bochum: ChatGPT
How does ChatGPT deal with the fact that VfL Bochum are still in a mess? As you are used to in our 1st Bundesliga tips, I have once again had the AI suggest three hot tips.
The tip, which carries a high risk, foresees a draw at half-time with an eventual home win. Since three of the last four FCA home games have been draws after 45 minutes, I can really see this happening.
The “Under 2.5 goals” bet is in the medium risk range. Bochum are harmless offensively, Augsburg have conceded two goals in their last three home games. So this bet is definitely possible.
If we are in the low risk field, the AI suggests an Augsburg 1:0 lead. Since VfL have only taken the lead twice this season, this bet definitely gets my approval.
Analysis: Augsburg vs Bochum
Two points after eleven matchdays, the only team without a win, the worst defense with 32 goals conceded and only ten goals scored themselves? It’s exactly the start that VfL Bochum didn’t want!
The Blues managed to avoid relegation in 2024 by the skin of their teeth. Of course, they knew that they would only be able to avoid relegation in 2024/25, but things currently look bleaker than ever.
The club has now been winless for 13 games across all seasons, with only one longer streak in the top flight: in 1992/93, they ended up with 15 games without a three-pointer. Dieter Hecking was hired to prevent relegation after all.
In the 1:1 draw against Leverkusen, it seemed as if the team had been given a jolt, but in the recent 0:2 defeat against Stuttgart, there was not much to see. Admittedly, there are other opponents that VfL Bochum have to beat, not the champions and runners-up
Ratings analysis
Will FC Augsburg start like a fire engine and attack Bochum directly? I’m actually not so sure here, because the second half has been the strong one for FCA recently. That’s why I’m betting on “Under 1.5 goals at the break”, which still comes to odds of 1.52 at Betano.
Two goals are always possible for the Fuggerstädter, however, as they’ve only missed this mark once at home. The bookmakers are offering stable odds of 1.70 for this bet.
If I had to decide on a result bet, the 2:1 (YES, that contradicts an AI tip, which is nevertheless not impossible) comes to mind, as two of the last three FCA home games ended that way. At Bet365, the odds would be 8.50.
Augsburg vs. Bochum: Augsburg? Bochum love this trip!
In order to finally be in a better position, the current bottom team urgently needs to work on its defense. For 27 games now in the Bundesliga, they have always conceded in their own box, so they are still working on a negative record!
No, unfortunately there is currently nothing to encourage VfL fans that things will soon improve. Is FC Augsburg perhaps at least something like a favorite opponent?
I can actually answer this question with a cautious “yes”! The two clubs have met nine times so far, with Bochum losing only twice. Particularly interesting: the two defeats were away from home.

The FCA wants to play to its home strength
In reverse, this means that none of the four appearances in Augsburg have been lost. 2:2, 1:0, 3:2, 1:0, there it is, the glimmer of hope for all supporters! On the other hand, word must have got around in Augsburg that Bochum are by no means easy to play against.
The Bavarian Swabians finally get to play at home again, they don’t feel comfortable away from home with just one point. Although I also have to say: The most recent 0:3 at FC Bayern was clearer than it may have felt.
Two goals conceded in stoppage time, two penalties, in addition to their own inability in attack, there was also some bad luck. But now they finally have another home game coming up, and FCA have already collected twelve points at home.
3:1 against St. Pauli, 2:1 against Gladbach and 2:1 against Dortmund, plus a 0:0 against Hoffenheim and a 2:2 against Bremen, with the exception of the 2:3 against Mainz, they always scored points here and won three times.
The 0-0 draw against Hoffenheim was not necessarily to be expected, as all the other games featured goals on both sides and at least three of them. Augsburg are not worried by the fact that they travel to the bottom of the table on Saturday.
The club have only lost one of their last eleven games. It gets even better: Whenever a team from the bottom of the table has visited Augsburg, they have never been able to return home with the full three points.
FCA will be weakened in terms of personnel this weekend, as Keven Schlotterbeck is serving a suspension. In addition, Dimitrios Giannoulis is injured and will almost certainly only be able to watch on.
My Augsburg Bochum tip:
In Bochum, they are all waiting for the famous knot to finally burst! Dieter Hecking doesn’t have all the time in the world, with two points I don’t have to say much about the current self-image. At least I was able to find out that Augsburg is something of a favorite opponent.
One that never loses at home to a bottom team! So, what does that mean for my conclusion? Quite simply: I’m assuming that we’re in for an interesting, intense duel that’s definitely on an equal footing.
Since Bochum always concede goals anyway and Augsburg have only kept one clean sheet this season, I decided to recommend the following tip:
Both teams will score!
